The idea of creating a major international art institution in Nea Anchialos was  inspired  several years ago, both by the Association of Sanitary Interest Businesses of Nea Anchialos, for the increase and qualitative improvement of tourism, as well as by the Cultural Group “Oxya” of our region.

For this reason, four years ago, the organization of the International Traditional Dance Festival of Nea Anchialos began with a test, but collectively.

Year after year the organization was improving and more and more dance groups from all over the world participated, making our festival and our region known everywhere.

Now we can refer to the biggest cultural event of our region, but also one of the most important ones of Magnesia, which is taking place every July.

As a proof of the above mentioned, which make us pleased and proud, is that this year's 5th International Traditional Dance Festival of Nea Anchialos is organized under the aegis of IOV-UNESCO, the European Network for European Festivals EFFE - Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (2017-2018), the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport as well as the Hellenic Tourism Organization (GNTO).
